My name is "Nieve", which means “snow” in Spanish. Now, I am
now a
beautiful, affectionate, playful, all white medium-haired part Angora
cat with large amber eyes and a fluffy tail. I am the ultimate lap
kitty and want to be with you wherever you are. When it's bed-time, I
will race you there to see who gets the most comfy spot in the bed! I
will spend most of my time sleeping on top of you - I really like to be
close. I love to be brushed, and will sprawl out into various poses so
that you can brush every square inch of me.
That was not always the way..... A long time ago, I probably did have a
home, but ended up outside for a very long time. Life out on the
streets was tough. I was constantly being bothered by tom cats. I am
considered a "queen" because my poor body has had so many litters of
kittens throughout my life. I never had much to eat and was pretty thin
- my ribs were visible poking through. I was petrified of everything
and everyone. My "white" coat was very dirty - my rescuers
initially
thought that I was a gray cat! I even had engine oil embedded
in my
tail – probably when I was trying to find a warm, dry place to sleep. I
had a couple of gashes on my face (nose & eye).
One lucky day, that all changed when my rescuer brought me inside. I
trusted her because she had been feeding me outside for about a month.
I would always come when she called, but I was pretty shy about coming
up to her. In the mornings, I would wait for her to put food out for
me. I would sit and wait for her, but as soon as she came, I would run
and hide, and then come back to eat after she had left.
As it got colder, I was more and more hungry, so I visited my rescuer
more often. Suddenly, I found myself inside, and after only a
few
hours, I went up to my rescuer and purred and rubbed all over her
legs. I was so grateful for being inside in the warmth and
with food.
Particularly since, unbeknownst to everyone, I was a very pregnant
cat.....
Two weeks later, I delivered six kittens, the
beautiful Philosopher
Kittens. Thankfully, they were born inside, and have all been adopted
to permanent homes. They will never have to go through the horrors that
I did outside. I ended up needing emergency surgery two days after
delivering my kittens because the birth canal did not close. Thankfully
I was inside and received the vet care I needed, or I would have bled
to death outside, and my babies would have all starved and frozen to
death.
So, now that I am all healthy and beautiful, it's my turn to
finally
hope for the permanent home that I have never had. I would do well in a
quiet home where I would receive a lot of attention from someone that
was home a lot. I would be fine on my own, or with the
companionship
of a kind gentle male cat or a young kitten (as I was a wonderful
nurturing mother). Because I still get scared of sudden loud noises, I
would do best in a family without young children. I have received all
my vet care, been spayed, and declared healthy by the vet. If you want
a loyal companion that will always be at your side, you will want to
adopt me!
