Adopted
Update - Jan 6 - Adopted
"Great news! Red's foster became so smitten with Red that he decided to adopt him!
Now that Red's eye infection cleared up , his eyes can be seen clearly, and they are beautiful! For the first time in a very long time, Red is getting regular food and is now learning how to play - which is slowly bringing a sparkle to his once sad eyes.....! From the wild feral that Red was outside, he has now turned into an affectionate cuddler - in a matter of weeks. With love and patience, it is possible for all of these cats to come around - if we give them a chance...."
My name is “Red” and I am affectionately nicknamed “Big Red.” I am a very handsome, gentle and non-aggressive, orange and white three-year-old male. My foster says that I have extremely sad eyes – which show all the pain and suffering I have gone through. My foster figures that I must have had an owner at some point, however I have been living outside for many years. I was first noticed foraging for food in the woods, along with my twin brother. I was so scared of people, that I would run away as soon as I saw someone approaching. A very kind person befriended me and my twin brother, and soon we trusted the person enough to come and eat outside of the person’s door. Life outside is tough for us homeless cats, and a tragedy hit.
My twin brother’s back was ripped off (probably by a dog or wild animal), and my human rescuers were not able to get to him in time. Sadly, my twin brother died, and I was abandoned once again. After that, I started getting braver and trusting my human friend more and more. One day, I actually came into the house. However, I still did not know how to ask for food and affection, so I always hissed a greeting to my human friend. I was eventually vaccinated and neutered, and needed to spend some time indoors after my surgery. I adjusted so well to the indoor life that I was not as keen to go back outside.
I am very appreciative of the food and kindness I have been given, that I now enjoy being patted and brushed. I no longer hiss a greeting – I have learned to “miaow” a hello instead! I am a sweet, gentle cat, and litter box trained. I am non-aggressive and extremely respectful of other cats, and could live in a home with a feline brother or sister. I was so acclimatized to being on the “outside”, that I still cannot believe that food and affection are meant for me! I always think it’s for my foster siblings, so I never approach the food dishes until they are done. If you adopt me and give me a loving permanent home, I will be eternally grateful. And maybe then, the sadness from my eyes will finally disappear, once and for all…..
