Cat for Adoption

Algonquin algonquin algonquin

I was first noticed in May outside. I was overweight so I looked like I had belonged to someone, but I was starting to show signs of losing too much weight too quickly and was homeless. I had also lost fur on my belly and hind legs, and as we later found out from the vet, that was due to stress. I was used to being an indoor cat and being fed regularly, and then for whatever reason, I found myself outside - without shelter, without food and without any human companionship which I adore!

I was taken to the vet and it was found that I was micro-chipped. We tracked down my original owner whose information was on the microchip. However, she had given me to someone else 10 years ago, and no one was able to contact that person (my presumed owner before I ended up outside). The number and info listed for her was not in service. :(

A report was posted for me with OHS, but sadly no one was looking for me. A note was placed on a collar around my neck, but no one called to claim me as theirs.

I had quite an adventure being rescued. First I disappeared, so my rescuer was quite worried. When I turned up again,  it was night so I ended up spending the night on my rescuer's balcony in a pen, as there was nowhere else for me to go. From there I went to the vet's and to a foster home. I ended up moving from that foster home to a second emergency-intake foster home, and then had to move to a third foster home. My third foster home was initially stressful for me because of the resident dog. Each time the dog barked, I became very alarmed. However, finally, after a lot of patience and Feliway, I was OK with the dog and now we even sit beside each other.

I was named ALGONQUIN because I was found beside Algonquin College.  I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, and FIV & Feline Leukemia negative. I am a very friendly affectionate older boy - at least 10 years old. I love people and would do well in a home with someone who is home a lot to give me a lot of attention. The ideal adopter would be retired or someone home all day with lots of time to shower on me. I am very affectionate and love to sleep on the bed with you. I am also very playful and love chasing the laser pointer, and my toy mice.  I don't do well in stressful situations; when I am stressed, I pull out my hair on my tummy. I therefore cannot go to a home with dogs or young children. I may also be stressed by other cats - depending on their personality.

Please adopt me and provide me a forever, stress-free home - so I don't have to worry again about being homeless in my older years. Thank you for adopting me! :)
