I am the Christmas Angel that arrived just before Christmas on Dec. 11, 2013 - on one of the coldest winter nights. My rescuer found me on her way home - I was desperately trying to claw inside an apartment building. I was so tiny and weak - just skin & bone - desperate to survive. My rescuer asked around if I belonged to anyone. She posted posters of me and filed a report at the Ottawa Humane Society, but no one was looking for me. My rescuers hope that I was not thrown outside in that cold... :(
My ears were half gone. As soon as I saw my rescuer extend her hand to me that night, I ran over and crawled into her lap and clung on for dear life until we got home.
I stayed in my rescuer's bathroom overnight, and the next day my foster picked me up and took me to the vet. I was de-wormed and thankfully tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV. However, at that time, I was too weak for vaccines. I was given antibiotics and cream for my ears - which were bleeding and in very rough shape with hematomas.
Now, several months later, I am pleased to tell you that I am much stronger. After a few months of good food, lots of TLC, and vet care, I am now a strong girl, well on the road to recovery! My coat is now thick, fluffy and shiny and I'm a lot stronger. I initially had a lot of difficulty walking and my back end appeared to be quite sore. However, now I have no problems getting around and am even learning to play with my toys!
The name "Angel" was chosen for me because I arrived at Christmas and have the most angelic disposition possible. I am a purring gentle ball of sweetness that wants to be wherever you are. I am very bonded to my fosters - who helped me get better. They took good care of me, and my foster mom massaged my hips everyday to help me walk. I therefore sleep in bed with my fosters every night, and am always at their side. If you adopt me, you will have a devoted Angel at your side for the rest of your life! After that horrible winter outside and whatever horrors I lived though out there, I want a home that will guarantee to keep me inside.
I have stumps for ears, as they were so badly damaged, but I am still beautiful. I have had my vaccines and am spayed. Now that I am strong and well, I am now healthy and ready for a permanent home. I have been vaccinated and spayed. Thank you for thinking of me.
