Fairy Tale Family

We are called the Fairy Tale Family because we are hoping for a happy ending to our sad story.

We, Jack and Jill, are brother and sister. We were found outside as young kittens and were fed by kind individuals. We roamed around all the streets - looking for food. One day we found a home that started putting regular food out for us. We were ravenous, so we came very regularly. First Jack, and then Jill followed. Pretty soon, were were there almost all the time.  It turned out to be a home of a cat rescuer, so Hungry and Homeless Cat Rescue was contacted about bringing us in.

Some inquiries around the neighbourhood led the Rescuer to a home where we had found shelter. It turned out that because we were not spayed and neutered, Jill had given birth to seven kittens. And sadly, Jack was likely the father.

Unfortunately, being a kitten myself, I Jill did not know what to do and how to give birth in a safe environment. Tragically, I had the kittens outside on the road and in a car park, and three of my kittens perished when they were run over by cars.

I learned quickly though, and became a good mother. I would spend a lot of time outside, but always came back to check on my remaining babies and nurse them.

I Jack was in pretty rough shape. It looked like I was living in the bushes. I had the most knotted and matted tail anyone had ever seen - with burrs so embedded into my tail, that it looked like my tail was made out of burrs. I was also super thin, constantly starving and had bad tummy problems.

Thankfully we found the home of a rescuer, and the Rescue was able to find a foster home for all of us.

Here's our family:

JACK: I was brought to the vet in rough shape. My tail and back end had to be completely shaved. I was given antibiotics to treat giardia, and was de-wormed. I was also vaccinated and later neutered. I am a super affectionate, friendly boy. In fact, it's impossible to take pictures of me because I am always head-butting for attention. I am about 8-9 months old. I am not too keen on the kittens. They scare me, so I hiss and run away when they approach me. Now that I have been in a foster home for a while, I am learning how to play. I was always in survival mode previously, and did not know how to just have fun! I would love to be adopted with my sister Jill, as we are very bonded after everything we have been through together.

JILL: I too am a sweet affectionate beauty. My coat is now getting nice and shiny from all the good nutrition I am getting. I am a little more reserved than my brother Jack. He's the outgoing, social one. I take my time to trust you, but once I do, I am the most affectionate sweet girl. I am a great mom, and even took in another kitten that needed help - Orphan Alice. Once my babies are weaned, I would love to be in a wonderful permanent home with Jack. I will be spayed once the kittens are no longer nursing.

HANSEL: *I'm Adopted* I, Gretel and Peter Pan look like triplets! We are identical looking, so it's very difficult to tell us apart. We are cute little black fluffballs, with a gray undercoat. I am a very sweet 8-week old kitten. I enjoy playing with my siblings.

GRETEL: I am Hansel's twin - one of the identical triplets. I am a female version of Hansel. I love to play and eat.

PETER PAN: I too am one of the identical triplets - a black fluffball with a gray undercoat. I may have just a little more black in my coat, whereas Hansel & Gretel have a little more gray in their undercoat. I am a sweet, playful, mischievous boy.

TINKER BELL: *I'm Adopted* I am the sweet little runt of the litter. I am an all-black little fluffball with big green eyes. I am the only one with the solid black coat. Even though I'm the runt, I'm very mischievous and love to play. I seem to be the most independent of my siblings and often will play alone. Maybe because my bigger siblings are rough with me. However, when Orphan Alice arrived, I was the first one to welcome her. I cuddled with her and groomed her and slept with her. I was very happy to have a new little sister to cuddle with.

ORPHAN ALICE: *I'm Adopted* I was brought in to a vet clinic at only 3 weeks old. One of the staff at the Clinic bottle fed me non-stop for the first few days - until a surrogate mom could be found for me. Thankfully Momma Jill was nursing her kittens, and accepted me right away. I am super cute and super smart. And even though I am weeks smaller and younger than my surrogate siblings, I try and keep up with everything they do. I copied them and started using the litterbox at only 4 weeks old.  At 5 weeks old, I also started learning how to eat food - in addition to nursing with Momma Jill. I would love to be adopted into a wonderful home with another kitten.
