Description
I was previously nicknamed "Backyard Squatter Cat", but my fosters have named me "Gibson." I am a tiny, affectionate sweet little boy - with the most adorable little face. The vet estimated that I am under a year old, but I am physically no bigger than a six-month old kitten. I am pretty teeny. My previous life is unknown, however I must have had a family at some point. It is presumed that I was abandoned, since no one responded to the ads & posters for me. I had been outside for a while, and had gotten so thin, that all that could be seen of me was my spine & tail - just a tiny thin line that moved around. My rescuers dog first saw me. He normally barks and chases everything / everyone, but he could tell that I was in distress. So instead of barking and chasing me off, he went to get his caregiver. She took one look at me and knew that I needed water, so she ran inside to get me some. I was still a little scared, so initially I hid. I was used to people shooing me away. Finally I was so thirsty, I downed the whole bowl - right in front of her. My rescuer guessed that I must be starving, so she went to get me some food. All she had was dog food and people food, so that was my first meal in a long time.....
My rescuer figured that I must belong to someone, and would eventually go home. After a couple of days, I was still hanging around outside. When my rescuer realized that I was not going anywhere, she picked me up and put me in her backyard. (I could not go in the house because of allergies.) My rescuer left the gate open and figured I would go home eventually. However, because this backyard was the closest thing I had to a home in such a long time, I didn't leave. When my foster realized I had nowhere to go, she closed the gate. I was fed delicious cat food and given fresh water 2x/ day. My rescuer made me a little bed. I just hung out in the garden and even became friends with the dog - much to my rescuer's shock! I camped out in the backyard for almost a month..... When my rescuer realized that no one was going to come for me, I was brought inside to a foster home, where a kind foster, who was already full, gave me a helping hand.
I was examined by the vet. I was quite a mess, with fleas, ear mites and tons of burrs in my tail, and a little underweight. However, all of that has been addressed and I am now a very clean, handsome, male brown tabby. I have been neutered, de-wormed and treated for ear mites.
I am a very sweet, cuddly, gentle boy, without a mean bone in my body. I get along great with other cats and dogs, and would do well in a home with other animals. If I am adopted into a home with no other companion animals, I would love to be with a family that is home a lot, as I am very cuddly and love company. Since I have been inside, I have shown ZERO interest in wanting to go outside. I love my soft bed too much! Please think of me when you are wanting to adopt a young, sweet, gentle, cuddly lifelong companion....
