Cat for Adoption

I am a Halloween rescue kitty! On October 31st, a kind lady heard me wailing on a downtown street, and came to check on me. She was worried about me as I appeared so folorn and miserable. She wasn't sure what to do and was on her way to an appointment, but later that day, she came back to see me. She even brought food, and boy did I appreciate it! I was so starved that I just devoured it in seconds.

My rescuers came back to see me the next day and were upset to see what a sad state I was in. I was a tiny skinny little female - shaking like a leaf, huddled in a ball, and trying to keep warm. I had no fur on my back and big sores / scabs where the fur was missing. I was very uncomfortable and unhappy, and was quite vocal about it. Another kind passerby tried to help me as well, and had called the city, but nothing could be done except to take me to a shelter.

My rescuers had come to bring me food, but after seeing how unhappy I was, they packed me into a carrier and brought me straight to the vet! The good news is that I tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV. However, I was un-spayed and very malnourished. It is unknown how long I had been hungry and homeless outside.... I had a terrible ear mite infestation and fleas. The infected scabs on my back were tested for ringworm, and thankfully the results came back negative two weeks later!

My rescuers posted a found report for me at the OHS. They put up posters and ads, but no one was looking for me. I had no collar and no microchip to identify me to a home. :(

So, my rescuers took me home and are fostering me until I can find a permanent home. Because my rescuers/fosters do not have much space, I had to stay in the bathroom while awaiting my ringworm test results for the first week - to make sure I would not bring anything to their kitties. While I was in the bathroom, I started "talking" to the cats on the other side of the door, which is how I got my name "Piper".

I was very happy as an indoor kitty, and showered my rescuers/fosters with affection and gratitude. I wasn't too happy being in the bathroom though, so the following week I was moved to a large pen in a bright room beside the window. I was much happier there!

Once we received the test results and knew that I did not have ringworm, I was set free! I was very happy to be out of the crate and to be able to play with all the toys and the resident male cat. We like playing together and chasing each other. I also like chasing toy springs.

I am a very sweet and super affectionate girl. I love all forms of cuddles, and am not afraid of using a person as my own personal napping spot. I would love a permanent home with a permanent cuddler. If you adopt me, you will not regret it! I will be your lifelong grateful, devoted, loyal companion.

I went back to the vet to get some medication for the sores on my back, and was given a cone to wear so that the sores on my back could heal properly. By the time you are ready to adopt me, I will be spayed and vaccinated, and fully healed. Please give me a chance and promise me that I will never freeze and starve again outside....
