Cat for Adoption

I was first noticed outside in early Spring of 2013. I started coming around to seek shelter from the cold. A kind lady noticed me and put food out for me. I soon came by everyday and would hang out during the day when no one was around, and would come by again at night to have a bite to eat. Sometimes I would go several days or more than a week without showing up. Such is the life of a homeless cat..... Sometimes things happen.... We get beat up. We get chased away. And we end up not being able to get back to our safe areas...... :(

The kind lady feeding me tried to get me in for months, but was not successful. Our timing was off. A few other volunteers tried to help me come inside, but I was quite shy and always managed to hide well when they came by and would not make an appearance - even for food. Finally one day, my rescuer brought me inside. I was taken to the vet first, and then to a temporary foster home, where I was quite happy to be there and out of the pen that I was in previously! There were other foster cats sharing the room with me, and I enjoyed their company. My temporary foster gave me pats everyday.

I am a handsome young male, with a short-hair white coat with dark gray patches. I am about a year old. I was a little matted and dirty initially, and had lots of old scars and battle-wounds all over my body. But otherwiseI was healthy despite being FIV+. I have been neutered,  de-wormed and have my Rabies vaccine. I also recently had to have a broken tooth extracted, and am now healthy & happy that I am no  longer in pain from my sore tooth!

The reason I received the name "Skipper" is because when I was first noticed outside, the Rescue put a call out asking for a foster home for me. My kind fosters were drawn to me right away and wanted to foster me. They said I reminded them of another cat. They even gave me the name of Skipper!  They patiently and loyally waited MONTHS for me to finally come inside, and didn't want any other cats. And when I finally did come inside, they had gone out of town, which is why I went to a temporary foster home first!

After they got back and ready for me, I went to my foster home and am still here - waiting for my permanent home. I have come a long way from when I first arrived. At first I was quite shy and hid all the time, but now I follow my foster around the house. I like being patted and brushed. My new favourite perch is up on the couch looking out the window at the birds and squirrels outside.

I would love my own permanent home. I am a very sweet gentle boy. I would make a great companion for a cat, as I get along great with other cats and am not dominant. Will you please adopt me and give me a chance at a new beginning?
